چکیده

Impact of three different cyclones on the Bay of Bengal water and its surface chlorophyll concentration has been studied in three different zones during October-December 2000 using 24 scenes of IRS-P4 Ocean Color Monitor (OCM). The chlorophyll concentration found to be increasing up to 5.0 mg/m with effect of cyclones and hurricanes. The data has been correlated with Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and wind speed from NOAA-Pathfinder-5 and Quickscat scatterometer, respectively. There has been observation of 2-3°C decrease in SST with movement of cyclone. The wind speed has peaked up to 10-15 m/sec in the cyclonic zones.

Monthly variability of chlorophyll and associated physical parameters in the southwest Bay of Bengal water using remote sensing data

In the present paper, we have carried out analysis of surface chlorophyll-a concentration in the seas around India obtained using the Indian Remote Sensing satellite IRS-P4 Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) data. The focus was given to southwest Bay of Bengal where such studies are scanty. The study portraits the chlorophyll-a pattern during July 1999-June 2000. The monthly sea surface temperature (SS...

Comparison of chlorophyll distributions in the northeastern Arabian Sea and southern Bay of Bengal using IRS-P4 Ocean Color Monitor data

Water masses of different temperature and salinity partially govern the distributions of chlorophyll concentration. In the present paper, chlorophyll concentration has been deduced over the northeastern Arabian Sea and the southern Bay of Bengal using Ocean Color Monitor (OCM) data onboard Indian Remote Sensing Series Polar satellite (IRS-P4). The chlorophyll concentration is found to be higher...

Investigation of changes of spatial autocorrelation patterns of chlorophyll-a in Choghakhor International wetland using hot spots index (Gi *) and remote sensing

Water resources such as wetlands, in addition to their economic and social importance, are ecologically valuable sources of aquaculture production. Due to its effects on aquatic environments, necessity of monitoring and awareness of the spatial and temporal distribution of chlorophyll-a is important for environmental studies. In the new approach to such studies, application of spatial statistic...

Assessment of land use changes using remote sensing and GIS and their implications on climatic variability for Balachaur watershed in Punjab, India

Abstract Decadal changes in land use/land cover for Balachaur watershed in Nawanshahar district, Punjab, India were studied using black and white aerial photographs for March 1984 on approximately 1:20,000 scale and multidate geocoded false colour composites (FCC) of IRS-1D LISS-III on 1:50,000 scale for March 2002, September 2002, and May 2003 and interpreted visually to prepare land use/land...

Electro-Optical Design of Imaging Payload for a Remote Sensing Satellite

Remote sensing using small spacecraft arising from multi-objective economic activity problems is getting more and more developed. These satellites require very accurate pointing to specific locations of interest, with high reliability and small latency. The space borne imaging systems always attempted to achieve the highest ground resolution possible with the available technology at the given t...
